No way, Nap Tyme

One of my favorite Seattle boating moments of 2016 had nothing to do with sailors.

Instead, it was the captain of M/V Nap Tyme who captured everyone’s attention in early December when his vessel had more than a close call with a Washington State Ferry. Names aside, several reports credit Mr. Nap Tyme not with falling asleep on the job, but instead, neglecting his piloting duties while fulfilling another necessary bodily function.

This potent combination of circumstance, an apropos boat name, and delightful YouTube comments made it one memorable boat trip.

Some important takeaways:

  • Choose your “head” moments wisely, both on and off the vessel
  • Ferries have great metaphor potential – “As constant as the ferry’s course”
  • Boat names can predict the future
  • Always choose a sunny, Northwest day for a near-disaster. It’ll look better on camera.

See ya from Seattle,
Cara
